Holders to meet final hosts

Competition promises to be keen when Southowram and Stones meet in this year’s Halifax League Twenty/20.

The pair will cross swords in the second round of the Heineken UK-sponsored event and both have good reason for wanting to get through.

The Rams are the holders of the trophy, their surprise victory over 2011 winners Jer Lane at Booth last July being the highlight of a mixed yet high profile season which included relegation from the Premier Division for their firsts.

Stones’ incentive comes from the fact that they will be hosting the semi-finals and final of the 2013 competition on Sunday July 21.

Nineteen teams are taking part and that means three first round games which all promise to be highly competitive.

Draw - First round (Tuesday, May 7): Mytholmroyd v Triangle, Clayton v Northowram, Copley v Jer Lane.

Second round (Tuesday, June 4): Southowram v Stones (match D), Mytholmroyd or Triangle v Clayton or Northowram (E), Thornton v Wibsey PC (F), Bradshaw v Booth (G), SBCI v Warley (H), Old Crossleyans v Blackley (I), Queensbury v Copley or Jer Lane (J), Sowerby SP v Sowerby Bridge (K).

Third round (June 25) winners of D v winners of E, F v G, H v I, J v K.
