Home opener for champs

SBCI will launch their attempt to retain the Towergate Halifax League title at home to Clayton on Saturday, April 20.

Jamie Sykes’s side, who also won the Parish Cup in 2012, are sure to make it a tough Premier Division baptism for visitors who finished fairly distant runners-up to Mytholmroyd in the middle section last summer.

However, former Bradford Central League outfit Clayton, who opened a new pavilion last season, believe they are an up-and-coming club and will be keen to make a good impression.

Mytholmroyd, back in the Premier after just a year’s absence, host Thornton on the opening day.

Booth, who led the table going into the final day of ther 2012 campaign, will start their attempt to go one better than last year at home to Blackley.
