Jer Lane CC’s victory parade to celebrate their Foster Halifax League triumphs this summer has been hailed a hit.

The Horton Bank Top club hired an open top bus yesterday and toured the area near their ground before heading off to Halifax and Sowerby Bridge.

“It was very successful - everyone loved it,” said organiser Andrew Pinfield, an opening batsman for this year’s Premier Division champions and Parish Cup winners.

Pinfield said favourable weather had been “a godsend” and people had emerged from houses to watch the spectacle, some with banners of support.

Lane’s plans for the open top bus ride had drawn some criticism on the ‘Courier’ website and Facebook but Pinfield said he hadn’t noticed any objectors en route.

“I thought there might have been but there weren’t.” said Pinfield, who confirmed that Lane’s players and supporters had partied at the club afterwards.
