HOLDERS Jer Lane face a rare trip to lower-division Stones at the start of their Twenty/20 competition defence in the Towergate Halifax League this year.
Lane, who beat SBCI in last year’s final at Luddenden Foot, have been drawn away to the Ripponden club on Tuesday, May 8 with May 15 the reserve date in case of bad weather.
The winners will be at home to Sowerby Bridge in round two.
SBCI will fancy their chances of beating Shelf and then Greetland to reach the quarter finals again while Old Crossleyans and Blackley, the beaten semi-finalists last year, meet in the first round at Broomfield.
Twenty two of the league’s 30 clubs are taking part - one less than last year - and Copley’s new clubhouse will be in use for finals day on Sunday, July 22.
DRAW - round one (May 8 and 15): SBCI v Shelf, Thornton v Sowerby SP, Stones v Jer Lane, Old Town v Copley, Northowram v Triangle, Old Crossleyans v Blackley.
