Halifax’s Alex Lees hit an unbeaten half-century as county champions Yorkshire stormed to a 10-wicket win over hosts Worcestershire in their seasonal opener this afternoon.

The teams went into the third day at New Road, Worcester with honours fairly even.

Yorkshire lost their final wicket on 307 early in the day to trail by four runs on the first innings.

However, Jack Brooks (four for 28) and Steve Patterson (five for 11) steamrollered Worcestershire for 100 second time around inside 36 overs.

Yorkshire then romped to 105 without loss in reply. England Lions player Lees followed up his first innings 87 with 52 not out and he and fellow youngster Will Rhodes (45 no) completed the task in 17 overs.
