County title for Shelf’s Oliver

Oliver Robinson from Shelf has become the Yorkshire ABA Junior Champion at 67k.

Robinson started at Halifax Police Boxing Club at the age of 10 and at 16 moved to Cleckheaton BC.

Now 17, he has gone from strength to strength.

It turned out that he did the hard work in getting to the county final in vain because his scheduled opponent was forced to withdraw.

Since then the Calderdale College student has won through to the quarter finals of the national ABA championships to be held Great Barr Leisure Centre, Birminghamon Sunday.

Representatives from the midlands, east midlands, Merseyside and Cheshire and Yorkshire will be taking part.

Robinson’s opponent is Ammir Fiaz of Wellington and their fight is at 63.5 to 67k.

The weigh-in starts at 11am with boxing from 1.30 onwards.
