OLD Brodleians virtually settled the outcome of their latest West Yorkshire League Division One contest with a devastating opening burst.
They stormed into a 22-5 lead after just 15 minutes of Saturday’s match against Templars at Halifax High School, eventually winning 50-32.
The league newcomers have reached the half-way point of their season with just one defeat, to lowly Farsley Celtic 2 in October when they went down by one point with a much-weakened team.
Charlotte Wilson played her first game since Christmas at wing defence, after a bout of ‘flu, and Sophie Morley switched from defence to centre and worked hard for the whole game.
Brods started to ring the changes after their blistering start and made lots of passing errors in the second quarter, which allowed Templars to hit back.
They were unable to regain their total dominance but still managed to outscore their opponents in the third and fourth quarters.
Brods will be looking to give their promotion hopes a further boost against Shipley 3 at The Lighthouse, Bradford on Saturday (10.15) before taking on Ryburn Utd in the North Bridge LC League in Halifax on Monday.
