Scott Gladwin’s bid to lift the vacant English Bantamweight title ended in disappointment last night.
The 25-year-old Halifax fighter bit off more than he could chew in tackling unbeaten Jason Cunningham at Doncaster Dome.
Gladwin, making his first appearance for almost a year, retired after four of the scheduled 10 rounds.
He had been down twice in the first round and once in the second round against the fired-up Cunningham, who had huge local support.
It was Gladwin’s third defeat in nine professional fights.
