City of York III 1
Apart from a 10 minute spell in the second half, Halifax gave a professional performance .
The passing and movement was excellent and in-form strikers Matthew Graham and Jake Bamforth received good ball and ran York ragged.
This fourth win on the bounce leaves Halifax top of Yorkshire Two with a vital game against third-place Scarborough, three points behind but with two games in hand, tomorrow. Halifax have four games left and six teams are still in the promotion hunt.
It was no surprise when Halifax opened the scoring, Matthew Bairstow finding Graham and Bamforth rounding the keeper after an inch-perfect pass.
Graham then set up Tom Love to finish a fine move.
Several other chances were created but the York keeper made some excellent saves.
Dave Wheatley was having his best game for Halifax at the heart of the defence and on the few occasions keeper Matthew Metcalfe was required he showed solid technique.
Graham made it 3-0 at the beginning of the second half with a fine reverse stick shot but the team then got sloppy for 10 minutes and allowed York back into the game.
York scored a good deflected goal to deny Metcalfe a clean sheet but normal service was resumed and Josh Sutcliffe scored, flicking the ball over the grounded keeper after good work from Simon Arch and Peter Balmforth.
The scoring was completed by top scorer Graham, who surprised the York keeper with a powerful push when a pass looked likely.

In the second half, the university side got an early goal following some quick passes. However, Halifax made it 2-2 when Zoe Hartley powered a rebound into the net.
The match continued to be tough, with good play from both sides. With eight minutes to go, Lauren Wright lifted the ball into the back of the net from a short corner.
