Harridences’ family feat

Greg Harridence and his son Morgan completed a fine family double at the Calder Valley Clay Shooting League.

The Todmorden Gun Club pair won the top shot and top junior prizes when the awards for 2010 were handed out at Walsden Cricket Club on Saturday.

IT was the first time a father and son had scooped top awards in the league.

Seventy people attended the annual dinner and disco and Todmorden businessman Jimmy Stansfield made the presentations to the winners. Susan Schofield, who calculated the winners, assisted.

The Clay League was founded 15 years ago to promote friendly competition between clubs in the Calder Valley.

Fixtures are shot home and away throughout the year and the total score of teams of 10 shooters from each club count at each two club match.

Sportsmans Gun Club won the club of the year trophy, secretary Dennis Few collecting an engraved glass trophy, and Fiona Crook from Clough Head Gun Club was the top female shooter.
