Home pair shine in Alliance

Long serving home professional Nigel Hirst and Captain Mark Barron (8) were impressive winners of Tuesday's Halifax-Huddersfield Alliance at Dewsbury.

They scored 45 points - a very impressive score in the conditions. The day started sunny with showers and turned to rain with very strong gusty winds in the early afternoon, later breaking up into showers.

The am-am section was won by Crosland Heath’s Ed Pearson (17) and Mathew Russell (20) with 43 points, who also came in late in the day.

The early clubhouse leaders were Rob Booth (pro) and Tom Thompson (17) of Crosland Heath on 41 points and Ben Kaye (5) and Luke Pilkington (1) of Bradley Park and Crosland Heath on 42 points.

Outlane’s Eddie Casper (11) and Brian Cassidy (13) took the third am-am prize on a back nine count-back.

Pearson and Russell dedicated their win to Crosland Heath Captain Les Dyson, who is undergoing treatment for a serious illness.

The next fixture is at Halifax West End on Tuesday, November 1.
