BLACKLEY will be hoping Dan Houldin can maintain his good form as their quest for an elusive first Premier Division win of the season goes on.

Houldin has had knocks of 29, 99 and 79 not out so far this month to head the race for the Courier Sport/Briggs Priestley Engravers batting award for June and July.

His 207-run total gives him a two-run advantage over Warley’s Michael Midwood, who followed up a century against Jer Lane with 44 in his side’s very narrow win over Mytholmroyd six days ago.

Bradshaw’s Chris Shannon took four wickets in his team’s success over Booth last weekend and leads the top section bowling lists with 13 wickets so far this month.

Two of the April/May winners, Southowram’s Tom Belfield and Stainland’s Armgihan Javed, are going great guns in their quest for more success in the lower divisions.

Belfield shares the lead among the Division One bowlers, with SBCI’s Robin Hanson, having picked up 12 wickets in June while Javed continued to almost single-handedly improve Stainland’s fortunes, taking 15 wickets in just two games this month to show the way in Division Two.

There are also seasonal awards for the top runmakers and wicket-takers in each first team section and Javed is already a red hot favourite for one of the prizes with a remarkable 38 wickets in seven games.

Among the batsmen, Triangle’s Christian Silkstone is the first man past 500 league runs after his fourth 90-plus score of the season last Saturday, an unbeaten 124 in the win over Old Crossleyans.
