Old Rishworthians will be out to back up last week’s crucial 13-6 win at Baildon when they host Moortown in Yorkshire Two tomorrow.
Last week’s success was Damian Ball’s side’s first on-the-road win of the season and left them 12 points clear of second-from-bottom Ripon as they aim to consolidate their place in the division following last season’s promotion from Yorkshire Three.
“It was an absolutely massive win for us and it was made better by Ripon losing,” said Ball.
“Realistically, they’re going to have to win three games more than us between now and the end of the season to overhaul us, so it was an important result.
“We had a couple of late withdrawals from the side, which wasn’t ideal, but we were pretty dominant for long periods without quite managing to score more points.
“We got a couple of tries in quick succession before half time and after that it was just a case of defending well and withstanding a bit of pressure in the second half.
“We’ve got two home games now - Moortown tomorrow and Barnsley the week after - and if we can win those then we could move up a place or two, depending on other results.”
Ball expects to select from a full strength side, with flanker Chris Dyson, who has returned from a four-month stint at Otley, available again after returning to the team at Baildon.
