Yarnbury 55 Old Rishworthians 12

Rishworthians dominated much of the first half of this Yorkshire Two game and were unlucky to be trailing 15-12 at half-time.

With the break over and playing down the slope, the visitors looked as if they might take charge. But their possession dried up and the home side took advantage, running in six tries out wide, five of them converted.

Rishworthians seemed unable to do anything about Yarnbury’s back play in the second half. They had already been caught napping three times out wide in the first half.

After less than 10 minutes they were 10-0 down. But they rallied strongly and were the dominant team for the rest of the half.

James Clarke and Nick Faulkner constantly drove them forward and they almost scored with a forward drive from a fine lineout take by Fraser Swarbrooke, but were held up on the line. The ball came out to flanker Tomasi Tuivunilagi, but he could not quite force his way over.

Another lineout take by Callum Heseltine brought a second forward drive and this time scrum half Gary Morris was able to touch the ball down.

As Rishworthians took charge in the forwards, Faulkner caught a loose ball and in a strong run beat off several challengers to score. Teenager Josh Dean added the conversion to give the visitors the lead.

Just as the half ended they lost possession and were caught napping again for a third try in the corner.

The visitors opened the second half in style, Faulkner and Clarke putting in strong runs and fullback Joe Billing almost getting through in the middle.

Suddenly though it all went wrong and the home side took charge running in three tries out wide within ten minutes.

Rishworthians were shell-shocked and never recovered. Yarnbury grabbed three more tries, the final one being a race down the wing to touch down from a kick through the middle.
