Some of the UK’s best darts players, including West Yorkshire duo Scott Waites and James Wilson, are set to take part in a leading event at The Venue, Barkisland, in the spring.

The former mill has been chosen by England Darts to stage the 2014 BDO British Internationals from Friday, April 4 to Sunday, April 6.

Men, women and juniors from England, Scotland and Wales will do battle with the finals and presentation on Sunday evening.

The competing countries take it in turns to host the event.

England have already announced their teams with 2013 BDO world champion Waites, who lives at Fixby and works in Calderdale, among their men.

Huddersfield’s Wilson won of the BDO Daily Mirror World Trophy at Blackpool earlier this month.

Fellow white rose players Martin Atkins and Garry Thompson and Cheshire’s Tony O’Shea are also included.

The England ladies team of six includes top players Trina Gulliver and Deta Hedman and there are two girls and four boys in the junior side.

Tickets, priced £25 for the entire event, are available via the England website at www.englanddarts.co.uk. Corporate tables can also be booked.
