WOODSOME Hall made the most of home advantage as they pulled off a double in the Halifax-Huddersfield & District Rabbits Golf Association’s finals day.

The keenly contested League Cup final between Woodsome and their big rivals Huddersfield proved a tight affair, with golf of a very high standard.

Two Woodsome pairings – John Miller and James Newsome, and Paul Carter and Mike Crowther – both produced victories on the final hole against their respective Huddersfield opponents to help secure the trophy for their club.

The home club followed this success with victory in the Fourball Trophy through their team of Roger Ray, Rob Fotheringham, Phil Wayman and Steve Hirst, who totalled 85 points.

HHDRGA president Richard Neale said: “This has been a spectacular finals day with all teams demonstrating some great golf and equally commendable sportsmanship, under very competitive conditions.

“Naturally, as a Woodsome member I’m also delighted for the players and the club. When added to our promotion to League A of the HHDRGA, this has been a very special year for Woodsome Hall Rabbits.”
