Double win for Natalie Noble
NORTH Halifax Grammar School student Natalie Noble had two eventing wins in one week.
The 17-year-old was among the winners at the Draycott House British Eventing one day event and in Derbyshire and also topped the table at Bishop Burton one day event.
Riding her aunt, Ripponden based Christine Berry's 12-year-old Toomyvara Lad she won a BE 90 section at Draycott House by a clear six marks.
Leading from the opening dressage phase with the 16.2hh bay, Natalie started with a dressage mark of 24.5 and then jumped a double clear in the show jumping and cross country phases.
The pair were in good company with fellow competitors including four star internationals
Tiny Clapham, Andrew Downes and Andrea Johnson.
Toomyvara Lad was imported by Mrs Berry from Ireland seven years ago, said Natalie's mother Ann Noble.
"She used to event but now, at nearly 50, has handed her competition rides to Natalie.
"Natalie had 9.2 time penalties cross country but it was pouring with rain – a lot of riders were taking a bit more care and coming home over the time," she said.
"The course was like a mini-Badminton and the organisers had put a lot of effort in. The ground held up despite the weather but they did take the last fence out of the course."
It was the second win of the week for the Ryburn Valley Pony Club member, who also headed a BE 90 section at the Bishop Burton one day event.
Her partner was another of her aunt's horses, 15.3hh Orange Lad.
The nine-year-old chestnut gelding was also imported from Ireland as a youngster.
"He did a good dressage test and was clear and inside the time cross country, but had one show jump down," said Mrs Noble.
Natalie, who lives in Warley is past member of the British Junior dressage squad, is trained by Pennistone based dressage sisters Hannah and Becky Moody.
