Birkenshaw 12 King Cross Park 16 (Division One West)
King Cross Park travelled to Birkenshaw hoping to maintain their league position by completing a league double over their neighbours from Bradford.
This looked to be very much in doubt when the home team made a good start and soon took the lead with a try under the posts which was duly converted.
Park eventually got their game together, with Paul Bowen, Nathan Raynor and Andy Binns working tirelessly.
After a good line break from Luke Brown, Lee Brook put in a neat kick which held up in the dead ball zone for Liam Stead to touch down, Brook's conversion levelling the score.
Park soon took the lead when Eddie Gleeson passed to Danny Fearon who barged over from 40 yards out, Brook's conversion giving Park a 12-6 half time lead.
Park opened the second half in determined fashion with substitutes Mick Williams and Johnny Graham coming on with great effect.
Also, the young three-quarter combination of Alex Wood and Logan Smith were outstanding both in attack and defence.
Against the run of play, Birkenshaw levelled the scores with a try out wide, despite great defensive efforts from Andy Boocock and Gleeson.
This made Park step up a gear.
Luke Brown made a fine break and handed on to Williams, whose clever pass enabled Matthew Brown to put Arron Brown in at the corner to give King Cross Park a well deserved victory.
