Fax release Robinson, playmaker expected to join York

Halifax have released the former Hull KR playmaker Connor Robinson, who has joined League 1 outfit York.

Coach Richard Marshall said Robinson asked for a release following a change in his work patterns, with the City Knights representing an easier commute from Humberside.

“Connor has been offered a promotion which would have impacted on his ability to train consistently with us,” said Marshall.

“He asked for a release and as far as I am aware he is going to York.

“We wish him all the best for the future.”

Robinson joined Fax from Rovers during the club’s successful 2015 season, initially on dual registration then permanently.

He has endured a frustrating 2017, starting the year at full back before being ousted by the outstanding Will Sharp and then appearing at hooker and half back without managing to nail down a weekly starting spot.

He is the second playmaker to leave the club in recent weeks following the exit of Gareth Moore to Dewsbury.
