Briers poised for comeback - with Swinton

Warrington stand-off Lee Briers will make his comeback from injury by playing for part-timers Swinton on Thursday.

The 34-year-old former Wales international has not played since hurting his neck in the Wolves’ second match of the Super League season at Wigan in February.

He was given the all-clear to return three weeks ago and was set to play in the club’s Tetley’s Challenge Cup-tie at Keighley before he pulled a calf muscle in training.

Now he is fit and has volunteered to play for Warrington’s partner club Swinton under recently-appointed coach Gary Chambers, a former Wolves team-mate, in their Kingstone Press Championship match at Leigh Sports Village.
