Halifax director Ian Croad has labelled the club’s 2014 playing shirt as the most lucrative for five years.

Next season’s kit, unveiled last Friday, features title-sponsor Reactiv Media - the company owned by Croad’s fellow director Tony Abbott - as well as last season’s backers Harvey’s and Ye Olde Oak.

Three new deals, with MBI Consulting Limited, Yorkshire Timber and Builders Merchants and HX2 Maintenance Services have also been announced.

Croad said the cash-value of the contracts was £100,000, an increase of around 35 per cent on last year and the biggest payday since the end of Fax’s deal with HBOS five years ago.

“A lot of hard work has gone into this and I have to give credit to Tony (Abbott), he’s really driving the commercial side of the business forward,” said Croad.

“It’s not just the value, it’s about new people and businesses coming forward and becoming involved in the sport.”

Gavin Woodhouse of MBI Consulting said: “We are delighted to have struck this partnership with Halifax and look forward to being at the Shay watching them perform next year.

“We believe this club will go from strength to strength in the near future and be pushing for competition at the next level which is why we wanted to be on board.”
