Ovenden coach Gareth English has asked National Conference bosses to reassess the fixture list for 2014 as his side face a second successive blank weekend.
An 11-team Division Two has left teams facing a stop-start calendar over the summer, a situation English described as both “frustrating” and “disheartening”.
“Every time we’ve won a game, we’ve had at least one blank weekend after it,” said the former Keighley and Halifax front rower, whose side were last in action a fortnight ago, when they beat Stanningley 58-10 at Four Fields.
“I know why it’s happening, but it’s pretty frustrating for everyone.
“It’s hard to keep players interested and the numbers at training fall as a result of that, which means you can’t work on the things you want to.
“It’s a bit disheartening if I’m honest.”
Ovenden travel to Castleford Panthers next weekend.
