Fax boost ranks with signing of Giants' O'Brien on loan

Halifax have given themselves a much needed boost ahead of Sunday's Championship clash with Sheffield by signing the Huddersfield hooker Adam O'Brien on a month's loan.

O’Brien, a former Siddal junior, joins his hometown club only weeks after signing a three year deal with the Giants following the collapse of Bradford Bulls.

O’Brien, outstanding for the Bulls in recent years, will provide cover for the injured Brandon Moore, who is out for eight weeks with a broken hand.

Fax boss Richard Marshall also has a major doubt over his other hooker, Ben Kaye, who has a shoulder problem.

“Adam has always played well against us, so I’m delighted to have him on board,” said Marshall.

“He’s an experienced number nine and will certainly speed up our game around the ruck.”

O’Brien is certain to feature against the Eagles at the Shay (3.0), with Salford young gun Matthew Wilkinson his likely partner if Kaye fails to pull through.
