Halifax’s final pre-season game of 2014 against Leigh on Sunday - scheduled for the Shay - has been cancelled because of a waterlogged pitch.
Fax officials took the decision to pull the plug on Friday afternoon, mindful of further heavy rain over the weekend and the importance of next weekend’s Championship opener against Swinton.
“The stadium would have allowed us to play, but that would have put us in a position where the Swinton game might have been in danger,” said Fax director Ian Croad, who flatly denied rumours the postponement - the third of three of Fax’s pre-season - was related to an ongoing dispute about rent arrears.
“It’s more than disappointing to have to cancel another game, but the priority is Swinton.
“It’s a decision that’s down to the weather and the pitch conditions, nothing else.”
