HALIFAX have re-signed three of their current squad until at least the end of 2013 after centres Steve Tyrer and Lee Paterson and utility forward Craig Ashall all put pen to paper on Friday evening.
Tyrer, the former St Helens, Widnes and Crusaders back who is currently sidelined with knee ligament damage, has signed a two year extension after arriving from the Vikings last autumn.
Paterson, who has been at the club since 2007, has agreed a new one year deal, while hooker or loose forward Ashall - a sensation in his first season at Championship level after starring for Rochdale last year - has also extended his contract by 12 months.
“We felt it was important to lay some firm foundations for next season and beyond as early as possible,” said Fax director Ian Croad, who clinched the deals at training ahead of Sunday’s trip to Keighley.
Fax, who already had four players - half backs Paul Handforth and Anthony Thackeray, winger Rob Worrincy and back rower Ross Divorty - tied up for next year, are understood to be close to agreement with several more high-profile members of the current squad.
Elsewhere, Fax’s under 23s lost out 16-10 at Oldham, against a Roughyeds side boasting several first team players.
Oldham-based playmaker Callum Casey and Conor Wood scored Fax’s tries, with Gareth Hynes kicking a conversion.
