Fax re-sign Worrincy, Sharp also pens new deal

Halifax have re-signed their former winger Rob Worrincy from Sheffield Eagles for the 2017 season.

Worrincy, who played for Fax between 2009 and 2014, played in two Championship Grand Finals for the club, scoring the opening try in the dramatic 2010 success over Featherstone.

But the Londoner left the club by mutual consent - and under something of a cloud - after being found guilty of breaching the Rugby Football League’s betting rules.

Worrincy was initially banned for six months, but that was later increased to nine after an unsuccessful appeal.

He subsequently rejoined Sheffield, where he had played prior to his move to Fax, and was a try scorer in the Eagles’ Championship Shield win at the Shay 10 days ago.

Worrincy is the first of the club’s long-rumoured new recruits to be confirmed by official sources.

Fax have also announced another winger, Will Sharp, has signed a contract extension.
