Halifax have re-signed their former winger Rikki Sheriffe on a one year deal.
Sheriffe, a former Ovenden junior, first played for his hometown club in Super League as a teenager during the 2003 relegation season.
He then featured in the club’s first two years in the sport’s second tier before leaving for top flight side Harlequins in the winter of 2005.
He was back at the Shay briefly in 2006 on loan, but returned to London and then spent two seasons with Bradford Bulls.
Recently, he has been playing rugby union for Newcastle Falcons.
Twenty-eight-year-old Sheriffe, whose brothers Jode and Jessjo have both played for Fax, will compete for a place on the flanks with first choice wingmen Rob Worrincy and Wayne Reittie.
His arrival, which Courier Sport understands is the result of several weeks of negotiations, is particularly timely after Reittie was injured in an off-field incident in Leeds city centre at the weekend.
The former Batley player has extensive facial injuries and will undergo surgery on Monday.
No date has been set for his expected to return to action, but privately Fax officials fear he could be sidelined for several months.
