Halifax’s Championship game against Dewsbury will go ahead tonight (7.45) after the Shay pitch passed a lunchtime inspection.
The league leaders, who could open a seven point gap at the top with victory over the Rams, have spent the last 24 hours clearing snow from the playing surface.
Coach Karl Harrison will make two alterations to the side that beat Whitehaven 22-12 last weekend, with full back Ryan Fieldhouse returning and young prop Ian Davies coming onto the bench.
Rikki Sheriffe will drop out, along with forward Adam Robinson, who has a shoulder problem.
Fax are likely to be without prop Luke Ambler for a second successive game as the former Leeds player nurses a heel injury.
“Rikki didn’t do anything wrong last week but we’re just trying to keep everyone fresh,” said Harrison, who said he was expecting a “dog fight” on what would be an inevitably heavy playing surface.
Fax officials have also reminded supporters that tonight’s game is not televised.
