Halifax have signed Hull KR’s versatile playmaker Scott Murrell on a two year deal.
Murrell, a 27 year old who began his career with Leeds Rhinos, has spent the last seven years at New Craven Park.
Primarily a stand off, Murrell has also played hooker, loose forward and second row in Super League.
Fax have been searching for a high profile pivot since captain Sean Penkywicz announced his decision to join hometown club Leigh.
“I think Scott’s been a bit unlucky with Rovers; he was offered a new deal but their budgets changed and he ended up missing out,” said Fax coach Karl Harrison.
“He’s been a rock for their team over the last seven years and I’m really pleased we’ve been able to sign him.
“Bradford were interested, Castleford were interested, but we’ve managed to persuade him to choose us which is very pleasing.”
