Ovenden will look to conclude their Division Two season on a high with victory at Leigh East tomorrow.

The Four Fields side lost 26-14 to Oldham St Annes at the weekend in a game that typified their season.

“We’ve played well over the last few weeks, but don’t seem to be able to come up with a performance for 80 minutes,” said coach Gareth English.

“We lost Saturday’s game in the first 15 minutes and ended up 16-0 down.

“We came back really well, got it to 16-14 then had what we thought were a couple of legitimate tries disallowed before they got a couple in the last five minutes to pull clear.

“We’re not far off, but it would nice to put it all together tomorrow and finish on a high with a win.”

Ovenden will welcome back Martin Mullen and Nathan Smith after suspension and injury respectively, while Sean Dyson returns at half back in place of Mickey Holden, who has rejoined Halifax Irish for the winter season.

The Pennine League kicks off tomorrow, with most Calderdale sides in action on the opening day.

Halifax Irish start their campaign in the Premier Division with a home tie on Savile Park against Thornhill Trojans.
