Halifax made it three wins in five Championship outings this season with a powerful second half performance in a 36-14 success at Whitehaven today.
Karl Harrison’s men opened up a 10-0 lead with tries from Dane Manning and Ben Johnson plus one Steve Tyrer conversion in the first 13 minutes.
However, their Cumbrian hosts fought back to level it at the break with scores from winger Shaun Ainscough and Chris Smith, plus a Cain Southernwood goal.
Fax started the second half confidently and moved clear, tries from Scott Murrell and Gareth Potts plus Tyrer’s second conversion making it 20-10.
When on-loan winger Tommy Saxton touched down in the 53rd minute Halifax looked in control.
Replacement Paul Mennell crossed for Fax’s sixth it was becoming a rout, Manning grabbing his second and Tyrer’s boot taking the score out to 36-10.
However, the hosts had the last word through Craig Calvert with a minute left.
