Ovenden will travel to West Bowling tonight in the quarter final of the National Conference Cup after an unexpected weekend off.
Gareth Jones’ side were unable to fulfil last weekend’s Division Two fixture at Widnes West Bank after a motorway puncture left them stranded near Manchester.
“We got a flat tyre on the bus, which basically meant we were stuck at Birch Services at kick off time,” said Jones. “We had half a dozen who had travelled across by car, but there was no way the rest of us were going to make it in reasonable time so the ref just called it off.
“What happens next is down to the Conference; we’ve submitted all the documentation .
“Tonight’s a big game for us, Bowling are going well and we’re stuttering a little bit.
“If we can get past them and into the last four it could be a nice little distraction for us.”
