Ovenden will hope to open their Division Two account at the third attempt when Oldham St Annes visit Four Fields tomorrow.
Gareth English’s side have been narrowly beaten in each of the first two rounds; losing to Widnes West Bank on the opening day and then slipping up narrowly at Stanningley on Tuesday night, eventually going down 24-18.
“Stanningley are a good side, they’ve come down from Division One and they’ll go well,” said English. “We played really well, but we just ran out of steam in that last 10 minutes.
“It’s a big pitch over there and it caught up with us in the end.
“The good thing is that we improved again, which is what you want.
“If we get better again this weekend, we should have enough to come away with the win.”
