Siddal face Miners rematch

Siddal will get a chance to avenge last year's Grand Final defeat when they play Leigh Miners Rangers in the National Conference Grand Final at the Halton Stadium, Widnes next Sunday (3.0).

Their opponents were decided yesterday when Rangers won 22-20 away to West Hull, who had finished six points behind Siddal when second in the Premier Division table.

Third-place finishers Rangers led 10-2 at half time.

Wingers William Ashworth and Todd Fenton scored two tries apiece, Full back Jonathan Youds kicked three goals and was their star man.

The Chevinedge men had booked their final place seven days earlier with a 22-6 home win over Wests.

Siddal let a half-time lead slip in last year’s Grand Final but will go into the rematch fresher than opponents who have played three play-off games this month.

Meanwhile, Stainland Stags won yesterday’s Pennine League Championship derby by 24-22 away to Boothtown Terriers.

There were also home wins for Brighouse Rangers (28-18 v Dalton) and Illingworth (42-26 v Cutsyke Raiders) in Division One.

In Division Three, Greetland All Rounders lost 34-12 at home to Eastmoor Dragons.

In the section below, King Cross Park edged out Queensbury 21-20 and Siddal won 54-12 at Silsden.
