Halifax have insisted they are still to complete a deal to bring the Widnes centre Steve Tyrer to the Shay.

The former St Helens, Salford and Crusaders player used a social networking site to announce a move to Fax late yesterday.

But Fax director Ian Croad said that while Tyrer was a player “of interest” to new boss Karl Harrison, no move had been finalised.

“We’ve always been quite clear on this,” said Croad.

“Until deals are signed and sealed, we don’t announce them.

“If and when things are finalised, we’ll release the news in the usual way.”

Sheffield Eagles’ Papua New Guinea international Menzie Yere will miss Sunday’s Co-operative Championship Grand Final against Featherstone through suspension after the centre was found guilty of a dangerous throw on Leigh’s Stuart Donlan in his side’s last match.
