The Courier is now taking nominations for the Calderdale Sports Awards.

The event will recognise and celebrate the achievements of teams and individuals who have contributed towards their sport either on the field and off it.

Do you know an unsung hero who works tirelessly for their sports club?

Or a star performer who has led by example and helped propelled their team to glory?

The glamorous awards night, which is free to attend, will be held at The Venue, Bowers Mill, in Barkisland on November 1.

There are 14 categories to chose from including both junior and senior categories.

The junior categories include:

- Club of the year.

- Female/male team of the year.

- Female/male sports person of the year.

- Most improved player or performer.

In the adult category, the awards include:

- Amateur club of the year.

- Amateur female/male team of the year.

- Amateur female/male sports person of the year.

Other awards which are open to all ages include Coach of the Year, Disabled Sports Person and Outstanding Service Award.

Last year’s Calderdale Sports Awards were held at the Victoria Theatre in Halifax.

The show was presented by comedy duo Lea Roberts and Pete Emmett, who will return again this year.

The closing date for entries is September 21.
