Todmorden Agricultural Show results: Cattle

CATTLE
DUE to Todmorden being in the Blue Tongue restriction zone no cattle from the Lancashire and Greater Manchester were able to attend the show. Despite this an excellent entry of 45 beasts were present on the day. Entries came from as far afield as Goo
le, Doncaster and Leeds.
The overall champion of show was won by Mr Timms of Goole with a Limousin female over 18 months. The reserve champion was Mr Midgley of Luddenden with a cow from the Any Other Diary Cow class.

Results
Limousin Class
Entries from Mr Varley (Bradford), Mr W Seels (Doncaster) and Mr W Timm (Goole).
Best bull under 18 months 1. Mr Varley, 2. Mr Seels; best female over 18 months1. Mr Timm, 2. Mr Varley; best female under 18 months 1. Mr Seels; best pair of mixed male and female 1. Mr Varley, 2. Mr Seels, 3 Mr Timm. The champion was Mr Timm who received the Greenwood Trophy.

Hereford class
Entries from : Miss H. Whittaker (Halifax), Mr and Mrs Ormondroyd (Bradford), Mr Henry (Brighouse) and Mr Fozzard (Halifax).
Best bull under 18 months: 1. Miss Whittaker; best bull over 18 months: 1. Mr and Mrs Ormondroyd; best female over 18 months: 1. Mr Fozzard; best female under 18 months: 1.Miss Whitaker, 2. Miss Whitaker; best pair of mixed male and female: 1. Mr and Mrs Ormondroyd, 2. Miss Whittaker.
The champion was Miss Whittaker who received the Edward Swale Rose Bowl.

Dairy class
Entries from Mr J Midgley (Luddenden), Mr L R Hamer (Rishworth) and Mr N Hitchen (Luddenden).
Holstein Friesian Heifer 1. J Midgley, 2. J Midgley; Holstein Cow, 1. J Midgley; any other Dairy Heifer 1. L R Hamer, 2. L R Hamer, 3. J Midgley; any other Dairy Cow 1. Midgley, 2. N Hitchen; Maiden dairy heifer with all calf teeth 1. L R Hamer, 2. L R Hamer, 3. L R Hamer.
The champion was Mr J Midgley who was awarded the Lord Challenge Cup.

Commercial Beef Class
Entries were from Mr P and M Stanley (Barkisland, Halifax), Mr T Severn (Barkisland), The Rice family (Yeadon, Leeds), Mr Seels (Doncaster), Mr Timm (Goole) and Mr B Lund (Hebden Bridge).
Non Continental Heifer 1. P and M Stanley, 2. T Severn; Continental type Bullock 480 Kgs or less 1. Mr Timm, 2. The Rice family, 3. Mr Seels; Continental type Bullock 480 Kgs or above 1. Mr Seels, 2. Mr Timm, 3. Mr Seels; Best Butchers Beast - Bullock or Heifer 1. The Rice family, 2. Mr Timm, 3rd The Rice family; Best Pair 1. Mr Seels, 2. The Rice family; Continental Heifer 1. The Rice family, 2. Mr Lund.
The champion was Mr Seels who received the T Eastwood Cup.

Young Handlers' class
Marks: 50 per cent for the animal and 50 per cent for the way it is handled and groomed.
Best handler of maiden Heifer under 15 years, Miss Hatty Noble of Calderdale young Farmers; Best handler of any animal 15 to 26 years, Miss Hannah Ormondroyd of Queensbury.
