THE cream of the crop went under the hammer at a prestige auction sale.
Buyers from the UK and Ireland were enticed to Brighouse to bid for 250 convertibles.

Luxurious models including Porsche, MG, Audi, Mercedes and BMW were well represented at the one-off sale.

British Car Auctions in Armytage Road held the sale on behalf of leasing company Lex.

All cars were bought as seen but some models were still covered by manufacturers' warranties.

The sale attracted private as well as trade buyers and it was also held online.

"It is an exclusive high-profile sale in the run-up to summer," said Robert Hardcastle, marketing executive.

He said his favourite was an open Aston Martin DB9 5.9 litre. It had an 05 plate and 21,000 miles on the clock and a guide price of £80,000.

Howard and Audrey Booth, of Clayton West, Hudders-field, were private buyers looking for an Audi A4.

"We will roughly spend £10,000 and that should save us £3,000 or £4,000 on the forecourt," Mr Booth said.
