More than 100 cyclists came to Brighouse for the second annual VS Cycles Brighouse Circuit Racing.
The event which is now part of the British Cycling Elite Circuit Series, was a thrilling spectacle and saw the town brought to standstill as the cyclists took over.

Last year it was watched by more than 2,000 people, this year more than 3,000 came to watch.

Cafes and shops stayed open late and did a roaring trade selling to the cheering crowds.

John Fowler, owner of Caffe Amante at King Street, Brighouse said: "I think it is good for the town.

"Lots of families have come and I think that is something that Brighouse needs."

Ok, maybe my anger got the better of me there....let's start again.

What a great night we had last night. How unfortunate it was that some mindless people had thrown tacks over the circuit in order to mar the enjoyment of the event. Thank your lucky stars that nobody was injured or otherwise. Perhaps if this kind of thing is not your thing, perhaps you would be better off staying away and causing your bother elsewhere.

ps I ended up with a broken tyre because of an errant tack, however I sleep without conscience. I expect these moronics don't.

Anybody caught throwing tacks should have been pushed onto a pile of them and cycled over. It is outrageous and dangerous pathetic behaviour. Unfotunately there is scum everywhere. We need another Australia to send our undesirables to. Trouble is, they would end up beating us at sport!

Very funny Betty. I think we should return to horse transport; rather inhale manure fumes than burnt diesel, but i am a bit of a deviant

Betty I DO pay taxes. I pay car tax, I pay inflated fuel prices and I am not a keep fit buffoon. I only moan & groan when I come across inconsiderate motorists (by the sounds of it, someone like you!!) I was cycling to Brighouse and back to save getting my car out, using my expensive fuel and paying ridiculous parking charges. Oh and apparently it's good for you I've heard too. Maybe you should try it. Maybe not, stabilisers are not that fashionable.
