Year 6 pupils at Bowling Green School, Stainland, have produced a tapestry based on the 10th century epic poem Beowulf as part of their topic on the Vikings.

Beowulf is often cited as one of the most important poems in the history of British literature and tells the story of a Scandinavian hero who saves the king of the Danes from a monster and eventually slays a dragon.

The tapestry is inspired by the famous 11th century Bayeux Tapestry - a 230ft long embroidered cloth which depicts the events of the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
