Dita Krona was the unanimous winner of this year’s Runway fashion contest.
Her performance in front of a live audience with several changes of clothes seemed effortless.
But Dita, who failed to make the final cut in Runway’s inaugural year, admits that despite the confident smile she was extremely nervous and unsure of her chances of winning.
As it turned out, this 26-year-old mum had all it took to inspire the judges led by model agency boss Bernadette Gledhill, who as part of her prize will take Dita on an introduction to modelling course with her business Morton-Gledhill - The Fashion Team.
Now Dita, who has several jobs including cleaning work for private clients and Harveys of Halifax, where she also now works in the shoe department, is looking forward to grabbing any opportunity that comes her way.
Originally from Jelgava in Latvia, she moved to Britain with her partner Ingus and settled in Halifax. The couple have a four-year-old daughter Karlina.
Dita went out and about in Halifax for her first photoshoot with Courier photographer Charles Round in several designer label outfits.
Of her success she says: “I’m not naturally confident so it was good for me to take part.
“My friends gave me lots of encouragement and I have done a little modelling before so that helped. But behind the smile I was very nervous indeed,” she said.
