A SPECTACULAR, show-stopping ball took place at the weekend to celebrate 20 years of one of Calderdale’s biggest charities.

Calderdale’s Community Foundation planned the event to boost their coffers.

The disused weavers’ shed at Shaw Lodge Mills was transformed by Prego Events, also celebrating their fifth birthday, into a lavish purpose-built venue.

Guests arrived and watched the pages of a giant book turn, the words voiced by Brian Blessed.

As the final page appeared, they made their way through a magical doorway to their venue for the night.

As well as the main area there was a comedy club and crazy golf course. Master of Ceremonies John Danbury entered on a zip line.

A film detailing the groups who had benefitted from the £7 million they had handed out was shown and chairwoman Leigh-Anne Stradeski gave a speech detailing their achievements over their last 20 years.

Steve Duncan, the Foundation’s CEO, called on people to continue to offer support. “Let’s see what Calderdale can become when we all pull together.”
