JUNGLE animals, surfer dudes, cowboys and roller skaters in hot pants paraded through Halifax town centre on their way to Saturday’s gala.
Hundreds of people found a spot to watch the procession of floats and groups make their way to Manor Heath.
Leading the parade was Mayor of Halifax Nader Fekri, followed by the gala’s own Prince William, William Madgewick and gala princess Ella Butterworth.
Then there was a trail of costumes and music including pupils from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Halifax whose float celebrated the forthcoming London Olympics and Halifax and District Scouts who showcased the wide range of acitivites that they do.
Members of Hot Wheel Roller Derby club bravely tackled the town’s hills on their roller skates, and the Calderdale Down Syndrome Group were enjoying tea and cake with their Mad Hatter’s Tea Party-themed float.
The Mayfield Trust were basking in the sunshine at their Beach Party and Warley Scouts and Guides had gone for a red, white and blue theme.
