WARTIME glamour made a comeback at the Hebden Bridge Women’s Institute – all thanks to a top local hairdresser.

Deborah Wilkinson, owner of Hebden Bridge boutique salon Zeitgeist, and her team led a demonstration of how to create a classic 1940s victory roll.

Deborah said: “It’s more fiddly than it looks but there were some brilliant attempts.”

Hatmaker Chrissy King, from the town’s Hat Therapy shop on Market Street, talked about 1940s hat design and showed some of her own handmade pieces before letting the ladies try the hats.

The Zeitgeist team currently have a whole range of photographs from their recent 1940s-inspired photoshoot at the town hall on display in the salon and on the website at www.zeitgeist hair.com.
