Join our Reader Travel team on a day out along the Manchester Ship Canal.

The construction of the Canal was one of the great engineering feats of the 19th Century. Fifty-five miles from the sea, it was the first time an inland city was transformed into a major port servicing the world. Today, the volume of traffic might have decreased but a journey along the Canal still offers a fascinating perspective on one of the greatest achievements of the Industrial Revolution. Departing by coach up to Seacombe/Liverpool Salford. The canal journey is Seacombe to Salford Quays. There is a licensed bar, and refreshments inc. snacks are available throughout the journey. Saturday June 28. £59.95pp.
