THE Barge and Barrel Pub, Elland, ran a cider and cheese tasting evening.
Eight varieties of each were available and were selected by Phil Kennedy of The Real Cider Company, Hebden Bridge, and John Murphy, of Czerwik, Brighouse.
Customers were given the opportunity to purchase cider from the bar in exchange for nine tasting tokens, which they could use to sample each type of cider and cheese - and the pub’s regular cider stock ran dry.
Mr Murphy said: “Although I run regular cheese and wine tastings, this was the first time I have been involved in a cider and cheese tasting. The matching process went very smoothly, showing just how well these two very different flavours go together. The event was a great success and we will be looking to run more cider and cheese tastings.”
