THE sound of blues will be filling Hebden Bridge as the town hosts its first ever Blues Festival this summer.

It is hoped it will attract thousands of visitors over the Bank Holiday between May 27 and 30.

The event will bring together local and worldwide blues stars at venues across the town.

P-A-U-L, Marcus Bonfanti and 24 Pesoes will all perform.

Keighley-based five piece Blues Jukes will perform at the warm-up fund-raising gig on March 5 at Hebden Bridge Trades Club. They will also perform at the main festival.

The opening night sees Jon Amor, Poor Boy and Paddy Maguire’s Midnight Jam Session take to the stage.

On Saturday there will be three venues in action – the Marquee in the Park, the Picture House and the Trades Club. Lance Lopez will headline on Saturday night, making his first appearance in the Britain. On Sunday Chantel McGregor will take to the stage as headliner of the “Women of Blues” night.

It is being organised by Jason Elliot and Paddy Macguire.
