MUSIC promoters Doghouse landed a major coup when they booked US singer-songwriter John Grant to play at Halifax Minster.
Since the booking was made in April, Grant has scooped a Mojo award for Best Live Act to add to one he won last year from the British music magazine for his debut solo album Queen of Denmark.
His dream-like single I Wanna Go to Marz has been played regularly on national BBC radio stations.
Originally from Denver, Colorado, John Grant offers a unique brand of indie-rock, Americana and folk.
Sung in a rich baritone, his songs tell painful tales of addiction and alienation. He began his career as frontman of the Czars, a Colorado-based band whose music split the difference between shoegaze, dream pop and alternative country.
Grant arrives in Halifax on Friday, September 9, with support from Kathryn Edwards. More than 350 tickets have already been sold for the evening (7.30pm) but some are still available. Visit www.doghouseuk.com to buy tickets on line (£16 plus booking fee) or buy at the door on the night. It’s open to over 16s only.
