From Russia with love, to Europe, Africa and the plains of America, a global music expedition awaits you next week without leaving your Halifax Playhouse seat.

It’s all thanks to Halifax Light Opera Society, whose latest concert offering, ‘Light Around the World’, transports you musically all around the globe.

The show runs from Wednesday June 24 to Saturday June 27.

There will be one or two old favourites and a host of new music, much of which has not been performed in the area before.

It’s a show guaranteed to get your feet tapping and singing along with songs like There’s No Cure Like Travel, Oklahoma! and Don’t Cry For Me Argentina.

Even if the sun does not shine there will be plenty of warmth emanating from the Playhouse stage.

It is over 100 years since a public meeting in Hanover Sunday School when the newly formed Halifax Light Opera Society decided to produce Edward German’s opera “Merrie England.”

Since then it has produced a myriad of wonderful shows, it’s last major production being White Christmas in 2014.

Tickets are £10 for seniors, £9 for senior citizens, students and children.
