Villagers have been bowled over by the success of Northowram Hedge Top Cricket Club’s first annual music festival.

Hedgefest saw seven bands rock the day and night away in front of 500 people.

The event, which organisers plan to run next year, has raised a significant amount for the club, with a donation also set to be made to Greenlea Oncology Unit.

Club treasurer Steve Talbot said: “It was a fantastic success. We estimate that we had about 500 throughout the day, which is what we hoped for. The feedback from everyone we spoke to was really good and for a first time event you can’t ask for more than that.”

On a sunny September afternoon, seven bands performed in total, including Southowram’s The McCarrons, Bitchcraft, Vintage Rock, The Fringe, The Stray and Fading Sunlight. Headlining were The Mexanines.

Other entertainment included face painting and inflatables. There was also a hog roast, Indian food provided by East West Catering, Halifax, and afternoon tea in a box.
